We've been trying to get our backhoe (Kubota 4572) attached to our B2710 for a couple days now. I don't know what we are doing wrong.....after getting the pins into the lifting arms we can't get the upper bar of the hoe to postion correctly for inserting the pins for the upper part of the 3ph. The bar always seems tilted no matter what we do. When we bought the tractor new, the dealer installed the hoe (used). We worked with it around here for awhile, then we took it off a year ago -- that seemed simple enough. Now no luck getting it back on and it will be next week before the dealer can come here to help. My husband finally has a vacation NOW and I want my pond dug. Please help if you can.
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

From your description, it sounds like a straight 3-point mount, no subframe to mess with, which is what mine is. The procecure I'm about to give you is based on that. If you've got a subframe to line up, all bets are off...
Get the hyraulics hooked up first. If it runs off the tractor hydraulics just get close enough to hook the lines up. If it has it's own pump, it can be a little trickier, particularly if the hoe settled while stored. You may have to manually jack things around to get enough clearance to get the tractor close enough to attach the pump.
Once you have the hydraulics hooked up, you can wiggle the hoe around using the outriggers and the boom to line everything else up. The secret here is that the top attachment point is fixed, and you MUST line it up first. You can use the outriggers to raise the whole hoe up vertically until things line up vertically, swing the boom left or right to jink it around until it lines up horizontally, and raise or lower the boom slightly to "tip" the top link into the bracket. You may also want to release the brake on the tractor to wiggle it forward or backward to the the holes lined up so the pin will slip in.
DO NOT USE YOUR FINGER AS A "DRIFT" TO SEE IF THINGS ARE LINED UP!!! If anything shifts, you'll lose a finger before you realize you're in trouble. The proper combination of stabilizer and boom adjustments to get things lined up will come with practice. Make many very small adjustments rather than a few big ones.
Once the top link is pinned in, life gets easier, because you have an extra adjustment in that you can move the three-point arms up-and-down and in-and-out to get them over the lower pins.
Pay attention when you take it off, and block it so that it can't settle. I take the lower pins off first, jigger things around until the top pin is loose, pull it out and then tip the hoe forward by raising the boom so the fixed top link is well up and out of the way to make it easier to hook up the next time.
Most times, I can hook the hoe up in 5 minutes. Occasionally, when I'm having a bad hair day, it can take 20...

Forgot to mention, when blocking the hoe, DO NOT count on the outriggers to hold it up. I use a couple old car wheels and a piece of 4x4 under the main from to hold it up, and actually raise the outriggers off the ground. The hoe leans forward on the boom like a three-legged stool. This is the most stable way to store it. It also has most of the hydraulic cylinders retracted so the polished rams are protected from the elements. ....

We can not thank you enough. Within 30 minutes of finding your reply the backhoe was on and working -- AND we have all our fingers! We had been following the directions on the backhoe and were not putting the top pin in first. Once we tried it your way it was amazingly simple.
It was so very nice of you to take the time to help us. We hope that we will be able to do the same for someone else down the line.
